North County emerge as victors from recent six- a- side tournament

NORTH County emerged victorious from the recent 6-aside tournaments in the Fingal area which were organised by Reinhardt Strydom. North County came out winners in the U-13 and U-15 categories and were presented with trophies for each age group. On Tuesday North County U-15s played Clontarf. County batted first and made 146 all out ( Nathan Rooney 48, Dylan Staunton 23). County bowled Clontarf out for 128 with excellent performances from Andrew Sheridan 4-29 and Stephen Sharpe 3-22. On Wednesday, the U15' s were again in action and this time their opponents were Malahide.
Again County batted first and made 138 ( Andrew Sheridan 44, Ross Staunton 21). Malahide were bowled out 125 ( Andrew Sheridan 4 - 25 and Ciaran Kileen 4 - 27) Winning the above two matches, has earned North County a league semi-final play off on Monday against YMCA. On Friday North County U17' s ( who were winners of the Northern Section) competed in the final of the league which saw them play Munster who emerged winners of the Southern Section. Munster batted first and made 87 all out ( Cormac McLoughlin 3 - 18). County reached their target in 18.4 overs for the loss of 2 wickets ( Cormac McLoughlin 58).
To this end it was not surprising that the Man of the Match award went to Cormac.
North County fourths played North Wicklow. North County batted first and made 116 ( Rafael Evans 31).
In reply North Wicklow could only manage 68 as Rafael Evans took 7 for 10 off 7.5 overs and in the process managed to break a stump.
On Saturday North County 1sts were in action against Leinster who batted first and were all out for 126 due to surperb bowling from Jimmy Boyland 5-45 and Eddie Richardson 4-21 and also some great fielding.
County reached their target for the loss of 3 wickets ( Conor Armstrong 68 not out, Andre Botha 23). On Sunday North County 2nds played Pembroke. County batted first and made 288 ( Brian Shields 70, Terry Richardson 57, Conor Sheil 53). Pembroke were all out for 223 ( Shane Plant 3-64, Thomas Garry 2-30, Ian Bertram 2-31). This win keeps them in line for promotion to Division 2. On Sunday also North County 5ths played Clontarf. In a close encounter County batted first and made 185 for 8 ( Barry White 35, Brian Smith 30). Clontarf made 183 for 9 in their allotted overs ( Karl McIntyre 3-43, Abhi Kumar 129).
