A- Team hoping their final plan comes together

Wednesday August 25 2010

SPORTING Fingal's A Championship team will meet Bohemians tonight ( Tuesday) in the final of the Newstalk Cup at Dalymount Park ( 7.30pm). The tie between the North Dublin rivals promises to be an exciting contest, featuring some of the best of emerging talent rising through the ranks within the Airtricity League.

Robbie Horgan's side recorded impressive results against Shamrock Rovers, UCD, Drogheda United and Dundalk to seal a semi-final duel with FC Carlow. The game was decided by a penalty shoot-out following a 2-2 draw and Fingal goalkeeper Brendan Clarke proved to be the hero.

Since that semi final tie, the Newstalk Championship has commenced and the side have not lost in their nine matches to date.

Their most recent outing, played last Sunday in Mayo, was against Castlebar Celtic where Kevin Dawson was amongst the scorers in a 3-1 win. Also on target to keep the unbeaten run going were Shane Madigan and Jordan Nolan. NEWSTALK A CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS TO DATE: Sporting Fingal 1-1 Castlebar Celtic; Dundalk 0-4 Sporting Fingal; Sporting Fingal 2-2 Finn Harps; Sporting Fingal 2-1 Bohemians; Sligo Rovers 1-2 Sporting Fingal; Sporting Fingal 3-0 Shelbourne; Tullamore Town 0-3 Sporting Fingal; Drogheda United 2-3 Sporting Fingal; Castlebar Celtic 1-3 Sporting Fingal.
