RIVERVALLEY Rangers got their season off to a flier in Swords on Saturday, with Bradley Rogers registering a hat-trick.
While Rush were well beaten on what was an extremely wet morning, they nonetheless did manager Peter Doran proud, with ' keeper John Clarkin playing a blinder between the posts.
Rivervalley, for their part, look set to pick up where they left off last season after producing a scintillating display.
With Louise O'Shea and Matthew Kinehan shining down the wings, Rivervalley went in front after five minutes when a ball played in from the right from O'Shea was expertly placed into the far corner by Rogers.
Bradley then struck the crossbar from a Jamie Britnell delivery and then after Britnell had himself come close, Kinehan's audacious effort from the half way line produced an excellent save from Clerkin.
However Rush were not out of it by any stretch of the imagination, with their lively striker seeing an effort stopped by David Murray.
And although Britnell was to double Rivervalley's lead, Rush were right back in the game when Ciaran Harford converted from Liam Doran's cross to leave it 2-1 at the break.
Rivervalley picked up the tempo after the re-start, with Eoin Kelly seeing an effort turned round the post.
However, Rogers was to strike with a header after Kelly had sent in a lovely cross from the right with Rogers then completing his hat-trick when he eventually scrambled the ball over the line.
Britnell, having returned to the action, then saw an effort turned away brilliantly by the inspired Clarkin, only for Owen Kelly to beat him at his near post after the midfielder had turned a defender inside the box
Then in the final minutes, Matthew Kinehan having turned on the proverbial sixpence, lifted the ball over the ' keeper with an exquisite strike from outside the box.
And there was time for one more when their talented defender Carl Rooney struck with a long-range effort.
